Eames Catalogue Raisonne

On the Eames office website, I found some cool cover designs of the Eames catalog dated back to the 50′s to 60′s. One of my favorite is the picture above because of the way they framed the chair. Although it’s graphic and cropped, it still reads and the use of negative space is also great.

“When we say a CATALOGUE RAISONNE includes ALL of a body of work we mean EVERYTHING. As with the best Catalogue Raisonnes, our Eames Catalogue Raisonne will include not only individual illustrated listings of each design, but also, reproductions of all the original sales material in which these designs are featured.” You can download their catalog as a pdf  here.

Despite the Eames office being located very close to where I live, I keep forgetting to make a visit. I’ll probably give it a shot this weekend.

Again, just a reminder,  you can still enter for our Anniversary Give-a-way, please don’t forget to leave a comment!

CA Modern Magazine

Besides “Modernism Magazine” and “Atomic Ranch”, CA modern is another rare magazine that specializes in Mid-century modern. It is published four times each year by the Eichler Network. Unfortunately the magazine is quite thin with less pages compared to the others but nevertheless it still has high quality content and is a great resources for MCM lovers.

‘Its content is aimed at mid-century modern homeowners and enthusiasts throughout California, with an emphasis on Eichler homes, Streng homes, Cliff May Ranchos, and Palmer & Krisel homes. Its content focuses on home maintenance features, solutions, and furnishings for modern homes; profiles on special California neighborhoods; breaking news; and much more.’

Hang-It-All: Limited Edition

One of the classic Mid-century icon, “Hang-It-All” is now introduced with a new limited edition color sporting a black frame and solid walnut balls. It is to be released by Herman Miller this August. The wall hanger will only be in production for only a few months, ending in early 2011.

For those people who think that the original model is too colorful and poppy, this one is definitely more universal for people who prefer a more limited color palette in their room.
