Edward A. Killingsworth’s MCM house is on the Market

Unique California Property sent me an email today that the great MCM house in Long Beach is now on the market.

This Opdahl Residence is built in 1957 by Edward A. Killingsworth. The house features 2 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms in 1.200 square feet. Today’s asking price is $799,000.

The house was featured in Dwell magazine in 2007. According to the source, the house has been extensively restored by its current owner and is now a historic landmark by the City of Long Beach.

The open house is this coming Sunday (1-5pm). More info here.

Retro Mid-Century Ball Floor Lamp

I’m not sure what this retro futuristic lamp is called, but I fell in love with this as soon as I saw it at the Long Beach Flea Market a few years ago. Since then, it has been the main lamp that light up our living room. Our place originally had florescent lighting, but the warm light this emitts work better for our place.

Eames Shell Rocking Chair

It was a perfect timing to post our Eames shell rocking chair today because I just saw Modernica’s latest entry, Forever Fiberglass. This iconic chair needs no introduction, here are two of the rocking chairs at my place.

This green one is my first rocking chair that I bought many years ago. I don’t really sit on it much but our cats love it. They especially use it during the summer because of the cool surface. This is a must have item for any Mid-Century room.

Fire King: McDonald’s Good Morning Milk Glass Mug

“You, you’re the one. A bright “Good Morning” to you.” is the opening line of the McDonald’s tv commercial in 1976 and it was the first promotional coffee mug that was offered to customers for free. These mugs are a part of my fire king collection besides the Jadite ones that I introduced here before.

I normally don’t drink coffee at home, but these simple graphics remind me of the nostalgic American breakfast style. The petite pot showing in the first picture above is also from my vintage Pyrex collections that is the perfect size to serve the right amount of drinks for two people.

Helios Thermo Black Cat

Helios is a German company that has been producing thermos since 1909. I love collecting items that represents cats so even though I don’t normally use thermos, I decided to take this one home all the way from Japan.

Their animal line also include white cats, bears, and a penguin. Everything is very adorable but unfortunately I couldn’t find a store selling them in the US. If anyone knows where to get them here, please let me know!
