MAK II: Alexander House
Following the McAlmon house on the tour was the Alexander house which was designed by Harwell Hamilton Harris. To me, these first two homes felt very similar in terms of space and size.
The courtyard was compact yet well laid out. I especially love the way the beams form a grid, it gives the space a nice personality.
As you can see, the window opens to a beautiful scenery of the hills. Even the kitchen had an epic view. Three bedrooms were located upstairs, and the owner uses one of them as his working space. On our way outside the balcony we bumped into the owner’s cats. They were very beautiful and exotic, but they were held in the studio. I think they were Bengal Cats. The combination of cats and the mid-century home can never be better!
It was torture to walk along the neighborhood because there were so many other beautiful mid century homes.
