Wooden Japanese Product : Goby Works

goby_works

Goby Works is the company of one of my long time friend Sunao Jindo’s.  He started the company in 2001 after quitting his day job. He is skilled in not only designing but also producing his products with his own hands. Above is an incent holder.

These are some example of of his work, where he offers a variety of products such as coasters, vases, and paper weight.

This is an award winning chair that he designed and produced.  The chair is purposely designed low to suit the Japanese custom of sitting on the floor. I love his work but it’s a shame that you can only purchase them online in Japan. For those who are planning to visit japan here is his website: www.gobyworks.com

Danish Candle Holder

danish candle holder

This is the latest Danish candle holder that I got. I was really attracted to the skinny neck and the angular shape.

Here is my other collection. The shapes are simple but I just love the way they look on credenzas. They are slightly different in terms of shapes and materials, but they look great even without candles. The one on the right is uncoated.
