Collection of Boxes

Tose vintage boxes are a part of illustrator Jen Renninger‘s personal collection that you can see on her Flickr page. It reminds me of Lisa Congdon’s collection a day but more directed towards boxes.

I love to see those personal collection. The ones I recognize and can relate to brings back some nostalgia. I also love how she color coordinate her collection as well. “I was raised by people who collected things, and who taught me early on to look for the small details in objects — not only to appreciate what you find in something, but to use it as a jumping-off point for something else. My mother would often find some thing and tell me a story about it, giving an object a life, anchoring it in time and place and giving it a value that, to me at lease, went well beyond its surface.”

You can see more box collections here.

West Germany: Scheurich Vases

My recent score are these two matching vases made by Scheurich in West Germany. Scheurich was a well-known company that was one of the largest producers of West German Ceramics since the 1950′s. They produced a huge variety of shapes, sizes, and colors.

Although the strong color and fat lava glaze are their dominant character, I personally prefer this simple design that somehow matches with my Lisa Larson’s kitties!
