Vintage Motorola Ad
Here are some beautiful mid-century illustrations I found online. They are vintage Motorola ads from 1963. I just love how the furniture look in these illustrations.

The Photography of Julius Shulman
You may have remembered an earlier post we did about Julius Shulman. I can’t help but re post some of his most beautiful photography. I like to think of them as a time capsule that preserves these mid-century beauties for the world to see. The first house above is actually available for a tour but you will have to be on a long waiting list.

Rolly Crump’s Tower Of The Four Winds
The Tower of the Four Winds was a beautiful structure designed by Walt Disney Imagineer Rolly Crump. It stood 120 feet tall and used to be positioned in front of “It’s a Small World” in Disneyland. As you can see in the picture below, the original design was much more thin. It was probably built thicker for more support and to be wind proof. I wish Disney would’ve kept these beautiful designs in their park.

Jacques Tati’s “Trafic” Movie Poster
The first time I saw this movie poster was at a stationary store that imported foreign goods. The poster was actually the french original version and it was hanging behind the cashier. I immediately fell in love with the type treatment and design. I didn’t remember the film title but I visually remembered the design and finally got myself the poster a few years later. The poster above is from Yugoslavia.
This is the US version with a different design. The original French one is huge measuring at about 47″x63″. It’s available on ebay for $295 but I’m sure framing something at that size will cost more.
