Heath Ceramics

I recently purchased two aqua colored plates by “Plaza line” from the mid-century pottery brand Heath Ceramics. The pottery was founded in 1948 by Edith Heath but the business was taken over by a husband and wife team in 2003 after careers designing products for the likes of Motorola and Nike.

Heath Ceramics is one of the few remaining mid-century American potteries and the last one left in California. Their long tradition of hand-dipped experimental and unique glazes still fits this modern era. I love dish wares because  they look great served with either western or asian food. Heath Ceramics is perfect to fulfill my needs.

The pictures above show’s Cathy and Robin’s beautiful home which is from the sneak peeks on Design Sponge. The rooms are very stylish, modern, but still livable.

P.F.S: Furniture Store in Tokyo

Pacific Furniture Service
opened back in 1988 in a little back street of Tokyo. I used to pass by this store thinking to myself how westernized their furniture were. At the time, I was still living with my parents, so I’ve never had the urge to go inside.

Pacific Furniture Service makes inspired pieces with beautiful glossy wooden material that definitely screams mid century. Their original pieces shown here captivates me and now I want to fly back to Tokyo to bring some of the pieces here. Their furniture successfully harmonizes the essence of western classics with the modern era.

midcentury LA

midcenturyLA is an another huge warehouse that is located in North Hollywood in LA. Their selection is constantly changing as they receive 6-8 containers a year from Denmark, Sweden, Holland and the UK. Over the weekend, I stopped by this place for their special sale which donate half of what they make to Japan’s relief fund.

As you see from their unbelievable collection, the 12,000 square warehouse is fulled of mid century furniture pieces, mostly credenzas and chairs. Although prices may be a little downpoint, the collection of pieces you find are remarkable.

I found a really nice storage for my bathroom, but unfortunately the little key on the door got jammed which will need repair before I can bring it back home. You will find out which one on the picture above will be seen in my place soon!
