The Parker Hotel @ Palm Springs

I recently saw these photos from my friend’s facebook and I thought The Parker Hotel in Palm Springs is one of the best place for a quick getaway as well as a beautiful location for your wedding. When I decided to stay at the Ace hotel two years ago, the parker hotel was the other option but it was a little more expensive and I can tell why. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the views are amazing.

As you can see, The Parker hotel has great qualities of mid-century that you would expect in Palm Springs. If you want to see more picture, check out tinywater blog.

Hakusan Porcelain: Masahiro Mori

The second item I’d like to introduce from the Japan trip are these adorable chopstick rests. They were designed by Masahiro Mori, a Japanese product designer who worked for the porcelain company, Hakusan(white mountain) for around 50 years until his unfortunate death in November 2005. With a history of 400 years of inheriting traditional handcrafts, Hakusan was established in 1951 to produce modern functional housewares.

Masahiro’s design received numerous awards all over the world including the “Good Design Awards” in Japan for more than 100 items.

If you live in the US, some of his pieces are available here.

Hotel Jested in Liberec, Czech Republic

The Jested tower hotel is one of the most interesting place to stay. It is sitting on top of the Jested mountain in the Czech Republic. The exterior has sort of a futuristic spaceship-like vibe while the interior reminds me of something from a James Bond flick. I believe the outside is the original design but the interior was updated in the 90′s.
