LIFE Magazine, 1950

This cute b/w picture is a part of a million photos from the LIFE Magazine photo archive hosted by google. It is taken by LIFE Magazine’s staff photographer Peter Stackpole dated at August 08, 1950.

These images are living proof that great design are timeless and lasts forever. The amazing thing is that not only can you purchase a framed print for $89.99 on the google site but you can also see never-before-seen images for free!

Eames Catalogue Raisonne

On the Eames office website, I found some cool cover designs of the Eames catalog dated back to the 50′s to 60′s. One of my favorite is the picture above because of the way they framed the chair. Although it’s graphic and cropped, it still reads and the use of negative space is also great.

“When we say a CATALOGUE RAISONNE includes ALL of a body of work we mean EVERYTHING. As with the best Catalogue Raisonnes, our Eames Catalogue Raisonne will include not only individual illustrated listings of each design, but also, reproductions of all the original sales material in which these designs are featured.” You can download their catalog as a pdf  here.

Despite the Eames office being located very close to where I live, I keep forgetting to make a visit. I’ll probably give it a shot this weekend.

Again, just a reminder,  you can still enter for our Anniversary Give-a-way, please don’t forget to leave a comment!
