Vintage Fireking: Glasbake Custard Cup

This is another part of my vintage fireking collection. They are a set of 4 glass bake milk-white custard cups. Each cup has a little orange and navy candle glow pattern that gives a nice accent on the white glass. I mostly use them for serving dessert, especially flan, my favorite.

The picture above is called ‘Blue Heaven’. These were originally produced by Royal China during the 50′s to 60′s. Although they are not fireking, they will be a good compliment to my collection.

  1. I love Fire King ! I started collecting (and using !) the jadeite Jane Ray wares a few years back, but they are becoming ever more difficult to find. My proudest find : a large dinner plate for 5 EUR on ebay… The only big plate I have ever come across.
I am so looking forward to redecorating my kitchen – so that I can actually display my collection. They are much too beautiful to keep behind doors !

  2. Btw – did you know that the name “Fire King” is actually a translation of their biggest competitor’s name “Pyrex” (from the latin “pyr” = fire and “rex” = fire) ? Pretty cool…
